What ever your cultural background or your traditions, we all have
something in common---We were born to eventually die. My thoughts are focused on my ability to make those years in
between serve me rather than me serve them. So, how am I supposed to accomplish that feat? Well, I believe, that is part of my
journey while on earth. I
certainly do not know my fate or your fate, but I sincerely want to make every
attempt to accomplish my end result with style. Now, you can create your own
style---in fact we all can but the trick here is to reach your goal with
smartness. So to make that happen,
you need to start now to think about your life and what you want it to look
like in 10-20-30 years. It is
almost like looking at an insurance policy but in this case, the only
investment you need to make to accomplish your desired results is to be
consciously aware of your attitude, behavior and the environment in which you
live-work and play. Believe it or not, it makes all the difference in the world
if you function from a place of positivity not negativity.
Again, I will use those words that I say so often—we all
have choices---sometimes I cave into the weakest side of my choices but
nonetheless, I know that if I choose improperly for me, I will pay the
price. While you are in your
youth, you do not believe it matters but some of those old wife’s tales are
true; like, you sew what you reap, those who don't learn from history are
doomed to repeat it, the hardest work is to do nothing and it is no use crying
over spilt milk.
So is it any wonder that from time to time, I spend moments
thinking about my future and how it will
end. Don’t get me wrong—I
do not labor over death, in fact, I look forward to that event in my life
because I know that I will be welcomed to the other realm hearing a choir of voices
singing with joy and celebration welcoming me home. What I am concerned about is how smartly I will get
from here to there without being in doom and gloom.
After spending time with Betty, I became very aware of what
I do not want to experience—that is why I am spending time focusing on the
journey that is getting me from point A to that point B.
You see, I do have concerns
because, I like to cheat when I eat—I enjoy my wine too much and I think I sometimes
fail to exercise sufficiently to balance my diet of loving to eat good
food. So where does this leave me.
I am not quite sure. I will tell
you though that I am more aware now then ever about how I want my life to play
out so I will stay alert to the clues and warning signs when they arise and I
will continue to be mindful of my thoughts, my attitude of life, my behavior
and how it alters my world; finally, I will always attempt to keep the
environment in which I live filled with laughter and joy. I think that is the least that I can
do. How about you?
