Do
you even care to be and/or feel well?
Obviously there are millions of people who really do not care because
they continually do the inappropriate things and therefore they are getting the
inappropriate results when it comes to their health.
Are
you scratching your head yet asking me what I am talking about?
I
just read an article in the April 2, 2012 USA today newspaper on health care
and it really got me to thinking.
There are a number of businesses and organizations that are starting to
require their employees to participate in a health test and/or wellness programs
to determine their overall health or lack thereof because their insurance
premiums are continually going up and they are trying to find ways to keep
costs down. Makes sense to me, but
then again, I believe in being proactive when it comes to taking care of my
machine, my body. I know that if I
don’t do something about it, no one else will. You know the old adage: “The buck stops with me.” The article goes on to say some like the program
others are suing over it because they feel their rights are being
compromised.
Now,
I am the one scratching my head. I
guess it goes back to the old story that no one wants to be told what to do,
that is, unless they become helpless and defenseless as when they get sick and
need care. Then they are the first
to go and seek care because pain hurts.
I believe in taking responsibility for my behavior and actions. Yes, sometimes it hurts to admit that I
made the wrong choice, but nonetheless, I did it and therefore I need to own up
to it and learn to resolve my problem.
I do not believe that it is someone else’s job.
The
way I see it, improved health not only saves the employers money, it saves you
more than money can buy—your good health and wellbeing. To me that is priceless. What are your thoughts? I would like to know.
We
haven’t valued our mind or body to the extent of their worth. In truth, we are nothing without them,
so my question again is: Do you
have a wellness plan for yourself and your family. Growing older is no fun if we are not enjoying our health at
the same time. They go hand in
hand; that is why I exercise daily and remain conscious of what I am putting
into my mouth. I do not eat fast
foods and I will not drink any soda; they both represent to me ingesting
chemicals and as far as I am concerned, if I choose to be well, I need to stay
away from chemically based foods.
But then again, I can’t live without my glass of wine! What are your thoughts?
