Don’t
put your life on hold---time has a way of healing each one of us and allowing
us to grasp onto something new if and when we are ready to move in that
direction. We can live embittered,
resentful and even blocking out the new possibilities that just might take us
in a new direction if and when we focus on negativity.
Time
and again we have heard that we cannot relive the past. An old adage that was said when I was
young is: Don’t cry over spilt
milk—it is over—release it.
Yes, of course it is sometimes easier said than done, yet I am here
today saying to you: “ Isn’t it time to release you from the past and grasp
onto the present?”
Whether
it requires forgiveness or the willingness to release a situation, either way,
it will bring you peace and inner comfort. You can still forgive and yet not like the person or
situation. But the key and
valuable point to be made is that the act of forgiving is freeing. When we refuse to move on with our
lives and stay stuck in the past, we actually put a stop on our forward
movement. We become so invested in
the past with our reasons for hating that we block out all the light that is
trying to shine through.
It is
all about where are we placing our energy. If our energy is stuck in the past, we are choking it off
which will cause it to eventually die.
When, on the other hand, we expand our energy field, bringing in new and
more vibrant energy, we are opening, so to speak, all the doors and windows and
welcoming the new and refreshing air, energy to stream into our lives.
We all
have a story to tell filled with our hurts, pains and abuses. The key question to ask yourself
is: What will best serve me?
·
Does
harboring ill feelings about the past serve you or hinder you?
·
Does
lingering unforgiveness and bitterness about the past serve you or hinder you?
·
Does
tying your stomach up in a knot and living a life of anger and resentment serve
you or hinder you?
With
each and every question the answer is “ It hinders you.” It has to! When
we hold within our stomach and all our cells, our heart and minds negative
thoughts, resentments and hatred because of something that happened in the
past, we are setting ourselves up to allow sickness and disease into our
lives. It has scientifically been
proven that our thoughts have the power to destroy or create. Dr. Bruce Lipton, a renowned cell biologist said: “All cells are affected by our
thoughts.” He said, “ we are not victims of our genes, but
masters of our fate, able to create lives overflowing with peace, happiness and
love.” It is
through the power of our mind and thinking skills that we are able to
accomplish that feat.
I
encourage you to rethink your past and allow it to be just that—the story from
the past. Now it is time to write
a new story where you will be filled with overflowing peace, happiness and love
through the power of your words, thoughts and heart. We all have the freedom to choose that which best serves
us. For when you are willing to
let go, you are sending a signal to the Universal Energy that says: I am ready to embrace something new and
better in my life.
Don’t
engrave in marble your past experiences but write them in the sands of time
where the cleansing of the waters will easily wash them from your memory.
