Do you remember
when you were a child and you could not wait for something to happen? Whether it be Christmas with your
anticipation of receiving presents, a car trip with the family for a new
adventure or something else that caused you to ask the question: “Are we
there yet? “
When we are
younger we are so excited for things to happen—in fact, we can hardly wait. Well I am not a little child anymore,
yet I find myself saying have I arrived yet? I am anxiously awaiting my next adventure, my next
experience and at times I am impatient.
What I have
learned especially in the last six months is that I need to keep on learning—
keep on going— and yes, keep on focusing on my goals and destination as I patiently do my work
anticipating for the wondrous ‘Newness’ that will soon arrive.
The truth is when
you arrive at one point eventually you are going to get back in the car and map
out your next route so you can get to another destination. For most of us the
process goes on and on or at least that is how it is for me. In reality we never seem to arrive because the journey is endless.
When people used
to say to me enjoy the ride,
I didn’t get it— Now I finally get it! Part of the adventure and excitement is in the
experience of the journey.
We will always be on a journey—I call it my lifestyle experience. All that I do is an experience. Some of my experiences are awesome and some are less
exciting and down right disheartening but none-the-less, they are placed in
front of me so that I can grow and learn the lessons that are valuable for me.
Life is truly a
process—an experience and a journey wrapped into one big bundle of anticipation
and hopefulness. As we are winding
down from one year and look to the ‘New Year” with hopefulness, I wish for you
a life filled with inner peace, contentment and most of all love.
