How much do you
value yourself? I believe one of the
greatest challenges in life is learning your net worth and appreciating every
aspect of your authentic being. We start scrutinizing ourselves by placing our
lives under a microscope - especially when things do not go the way we want
them to go. Your mind tries to rationalize failures: why you did not get that
job, why your relationship broke apart, why you did not win the marathon …
whatever the case may be. It is relatively simple to start putting entirely too
much emphasis on the negatives you perceive in your life:
·
Maybe I don't look right
·
Maybe I am too fat
·
Maybe I am not strong enough
·
Maybe I am not smart enough
·
Maybe I am not good enough
·
Maybe I am just not cut out for this
·
Maybe I just cannot do it
Well, the truth is that if
you think it to be true, it becomes your reality. When you stop putting all
your focus on what is "wrong" in your life, and start putting focus
on all the blessings in your life, you increase your value. Have a
"can-do" attitude. No one else can make you "feel" any less
of a person. A matter of fact, nothing can make you "feel" any
particular way. You are still in charge of your life. How you feel, what you
think, what you perceive things to be, how you react are all things within your
control. Just because you did not land a certain job or your relationship is on
the fritz, it does not mean that you cannot attain it in your life. It simply
means that you must grow from the experience and achieve it the next time.
I promise you that the
Universe is not out to get you. For the most part, we experience challenges and
even adversity in our lives to help us see and realize our true potentiality.
It does not mean you are unworthy. If you have loved and lost, what are you
doing about it to make it better for yourself both now and for your future?
Drop the "loser mentality" and put yourself in "go-mode".
Yes, you can create happiness, peace, success and prosperity in your life if
you are willing to make it happen. If I allowed every setback upset my balance,
I would be a basket case. I cannot focus on setbacks, I can only focus on the
road ahead of me. That is what gives my life balance.
From this day forward, I
want you to concentrate on all the greatness you have to offer this world. Yes,
I am talking to you! When was the last time you gave yourself a pat on the back
for a job well done? (No, you do not have to wait for someone else to tell
you.) Or when was the last time you thought yourself, "Yes, I have the
passion to be happy no matter what happens in my life!" Your can-do
attitude starts to reflect in others, and over time you find that others begin
to value and honor you more for the unique individual you are. Only you can
increase your value by being the authentic you that you are intended to be.
