Have you ever
embarked on a major task or project and then something goes terribly awry? Here
is a little secret, the beginning is always the hardest. That is when you are
going to encounter the most difficulty. The hard truth is that even mountains
must rise up from the ground beneath us. They do not suddenly appear, nor do
they rise up without earthmoving quakes or groans.
That is the way life is
for the most part. Even when you are born into this life, it is not without pain
or discomfort. The possibilities that await you are monumental when you refuse
to give up and give into your fears. The highlight of life is that anything is
possible when you believe you can accomplish it. Do not distress at the first
sign of a setback. This too shall pass. That is the incredible power of the
Universe. You may have to take a few steps back to reflect on the task at hand,
but that is okay. Sometimes, you must take a long look at what is lying in
front of you. Look at whatever the challenge is, learn from it, grow from it,
now move beyond it.
If I gave up each time an
obstacle presented itself to me, I would not be where I am today. Yes, I
anticipate that there will be times when hurdles start coming at me quickly,
but it is learning how to adapt and overcome those hurdles so I can be the best
person I am intended to be. Success, my friends, does not come without a price.
It will take sweat equity, determination, endurance, perseverance, persistence
and courage. Know that whatever it is you want to achieve in life is there for
the asking. How badly do you want it? That is the question.
When you are ready to
tackle a new endeavor, achieve a dream, realize a goal, or just finish a
project, I want you to remember Mount St. Helens. From the time it first
erupted, it has continually been active. It is through its natural eruptions
that it continues to grow and expand. So when you are experiencing some small
failures, I want you to remind yourself that growth cannot happen without them.
In order to ensure success, you must be willing to ride out the quake and
recapture your footing. Once you are back up and ready to tackle the issue head
on, the faster you will start to see and achieve success. That is a fact.
Whatever you do, do NOT
give up. If you want something badly enough, you are willing to work for it,
strive for it, move mountains for it. At the first sign of defeat, you cannot
say to yourself, "This is not going to work. I cannot do this." Instead, say to yourself, "This is a sign of progress. From this small
setback, I can learn and grow. I am able to move beyond this brief pause and
can accomplish anything because I am able and willing." Yes, my friends…determination plays a major
factor in how far you will go and to what extent you will play and become the
role. I cannot make success happen for me overnight, but I can accommodate
success if I am willing to go the extra mile. The same holds true for all goals
and dreams. I may not have today what I want tomorrow -- but if I keep my head
up high, roll with the punches, knock off the dust and get back up to keep on
going, anything is possible. And that same truth can be yours as well. Are you ready?
