We all tend
to label our children, family, friends and even those we don’t like. It seems to be the way of life but too
often those label are mean and hurtful which results in leaving some people to
feel inferior. In our society labels are attached to everything and everyone in
order to categorize people, places or things in a systemized manner. I think that labeling is deliberately
used to put someone in their place as it attempts to put down and weaken their
character. In the simplest sense
it is judging others and making assumptions about them that may not be
true.
Wrong labels
can keep you from fulfilling your destiny in the long term but they also stop you
from even trying in the short term.
I recently heard a motivation speaker say: “If you are still
breathing, you are here and if you are still here then there must be something
for you to do before you die. So stop living your life through the eyes of others
and begin to make a statement about who you are and what you choose to
accomplish.”
We all have
the power to make choices for our lives.
We can listen to the ways of the enemy who fights your mind and attempts
to make you feel inferior so you continually doubt your talents and
capabilities, or you can stand tall and profess that you have special gifts and
talents that you were born with and through those gifts and talents you will
invest your time and energy in them and make them grow and grow until your life
is abundant and fulfilled.
If you are
smart enough to remove the labels that other’s have put on you, you will become
what you want to be.
If you accept
the labels that other place on you, you are willingly giving your power over to
another. You are the only one who
can remove that label. No one else
knows or understands your potentiality and you are the one who has the power to
make that change. Always remember this statementàthe labels that others place on you are
their expectations and goals. Have
you noticed that it is the low expectations of others that appear to be what is
holding back so many people?
Don’t sell
yourself short! It is your responsibility to define yourself so that others
will know you for your true self.
Don’t be misrepresented or mislead by others. When you believe in
yourself and your talents, all things are possible and when you believe, you
begin to move in the right direction
Take off the
old labels of lack, of I can’t – I am not good enough, I am not smart enough
because I haven’t had the right education. You are not an accident---you have been made in the image
and likeness of GOD. If you are
one of those people who have felt the burden of being labeled by others, I want
you to know that it is time for you to recreate your life as you re-focus your
energy. How you might ask—by making a list of positive labels
that you want to be known for. You
have the power to re-direct your compass and change the direction of your
path. Don’t allow others to
dictate who you are, instead cultivate a different attitude—believe in the way
that God sees you and start making a positive shift in your life.
Nothing that
has happened in your past can stop you from fulfilling your destiny. Quit dwelling on what others have said and
start flexing your mental muscles as you become mentally and emotionally
stronger. Start today to build up
your endurance level because you will need a great deal of courage to push
through the past. Think about this
a moment—if God knows what you can become, don’t you think he can see your
future and your reason for being?
