Say what you want and mean it

Are you indecisive? Or are you clear in your messages? Let me explain to you how the words and the choices you make can and will impact your dreams and wants. Have you ever looked in a catalog or a store window and said to yourself, "I'd like to have that"? Then, when you actually go to purchase the item, you discover that it is not at all what you thought you saw or wanted. Our appetites can sometimes be bigger than the actual meal we start to eat. In that case, have you bitten off more than you can really chew? Be careful what you ask for because you might just get it.

In life, you must be conscious of your words because what you are speaking may not at all be what you are trying to convey to yourself or others. For instance, if you want to be a millionaire, you cannot make such a vague statement. Instead, lay the pavement first so you know which way you need to drive your journey.

Ask yourself…

What are some ways you can start building your dreams? It is one thing to say you want to be a rich person, but it takes some time, planning and effort to get what you truly want. The hard truth is that you can play the lottery each and every day of your life. Your odds of winning it big are slim to none even if you do play every day. To even your odds and level the playing field, you must lay the foundation so you can get to that end goal. That is not always an easy task. I am here to tell you that it is going to take a lot of sweat equity, patience and perseverance to get to that point. Perhaps you might take the money you are spending on your lottery tickets and put it into something more tangible, like saving towards your higher education, stocks, bonds, or a craft that you are good at so you can turn your talent into riches.

In any event, you must say what you want and stand behind it. That means that you have to back up your statement with commitment, hard work and a willingness to follow through on acquiring your wants. And remember, whether your want is a promotion, a larger home, a better job, a relationship, or becoming a millionaire -- know that when you start believing you can achieve these dreams, like all things, new and bigger responsibilities will come with those accomplishments. Mind you, I am not trying to frighten you away from success. Just understand that like the catalog or store window item that looked so enticing but ended up not being your taste at all, that success requires constant diligence, awareness, and motivation to do what it takes to maintain that status. This may require a great degree of your attention and preparedness to be the person you choose to be.

At the end of the day, you must ask yourself: Are you ready for your dreams to start happening? And if you are, are you ready to maintain the work it takes to not only make your dreams come true, but to put meaning and real purpose behind your words and choices? Success does not end once you achieve it. Success is only the beginning to the reality you choose.
