What does it matter if I
discipline myself or not you might ask? Discipline defines you. What you do in
your defining moments will either make you or defeat you. To reach you highest potential, you need to
be strong, use due-diligence, dig your heels in and be determined to keep your
focus on your end results-that requires discipline. Self-discipline is one of the most basic
characteristics that will lead you down the right path towards your
success.
We look at our friends or
competitors and say how lucky they are because they seem to always reach their
goals and are incredibly blessed but they fail to understand that those friends
and competitors have learned how to use great discipline. What
is discipline? For me, discipline is training my mind and body to act and
react in a positive, respectful and honest way so that I can and will create
and develop a behavior that fosters a right and enduring life experience. When I want something strongly enough, I know
I must train myself, that is my mind, to stay centered, focused and persistent
until I reach my desired outcome. That inner force or drive is what helps me
stay in tune with my higher self and God’s loving guidance.
Instead of envying others and
their apparent grand gifts, maybe you need to realize that we all have grand
gifts and talents. Those wonderful gifts
start out small, perhaps even insignificant but with time, when you start to
build upon those gifts, learn to enhance them and shape them into what can
become your greatest attributes that will become your defining moment. You
realize you are finally arriving at your greatness because you choose to
discipline yourself in the difficult times, you choose to develop your skills
and exercise your mind and body so that you became fit, sharp and an expert in
whatever area that makes you what you are today.
It is easy to believe that
everyone else is lucky and you are the only one who has to struggle. That is false and a myth! Success comes to those who are ready, willing
and super-focused. Life isn’t easy. We cannot just sit and wait for something to
happen. We are the ones who have to be disciplined and make it happen. That defining moment when you do the right
thing and finish what you start out setting your sights on becomes your
greatest thrill because you arrived at that big result that was waiting
patiently to be realized. Stay
disciplined and determine that what you are seeking is worth the effort. Be strong enough to keep your own promises to
yourself. Believe and know that God has reward waiting for you. He knows you have what it takes to reach all
that you are seeking.
