Have you ever thought about
it—your blind side? You usually
can’t see it and are often oblivious to it but none-the-less, it is there and
it can set you up to experience a serious accident when ignored. Your blind
spot is that specific position when you are at a disadvantage and therefore
unable to see what might be negatively affecting you. When I am driving in my car, I was taught many years ago to
always turn my head to the left to make sure someone isn’t coming up on
me—their car is often in my blind side spot and the side mirror and/or the rear
view mirror doesn’t capture them.
There have been numerous times in my life that, that simple action of turning my head
to check on my safety has saved me from a serious accident.
We think that everything is
going smoothly, we feel rather smug about life without even realizing that we
are vulnerable to our blind side.
We all have blind spots but the trick is becoming aware of them and then
playing it smart.
In our lives there are
multiple blind spots that will come up and it is our responsibility to identify
them and avert a mishap by continually reviewing all aspects of the
situation. Blind spots can come up
in our business and personal experiences all the time that is why we should
always look for feedback. If and
when we refuse to evaluate the situation and choose to respond in haste, we
suffer the consequences. When we
learn to take a moment and appraise the whole picture, we are better prepared
to respond. Too often, we make
assumptions that lead to chaos and confusion. We believe that others see us and understand us as we see
and understand ourselves.
Unfortunately, our assumptions get us into trouble and jolt our
awareness or lack thereof.
Awareness is crucial to
fixing a blind spot. That is why
it is beneficial for each one of us to develop the practice of conscious
awareness. What is it, you
might ask? For me to be fully conscious and aware of my surroundings at
the same time, I need to be open to give and receive information as I allow the
flow of energy to align me with my higher self. It is my ability to be alert and in tune with my higher self
and my higher purpose at the same time.
This practice requires me to willingly ground my energy so I can be
receptive to the appropriate energy.
When this occurs, my external world is in unison with my internal world.
We do not live or thrive in
a vacuum. We need help from others
to stand up and be held accountable for our actions and deeds just as others
need our guidance and assistance.
We all have found ourselves defending another when they weren’t aware
because their focus was someplace else.
We protect those who are vulnerable and need help and when we are part
of a team environment, we continually make suggestions to those who have
ignored their blind side simply because we have the ability to see the bigger
picture and we want our team to succeed.
I find myself truly blessed
when I know that someone has got my back.
It is an awesome feeling.
We all need help and assistance from time to time. Maybe it is time for you to start
protecting someone else’s blind spot because I am sure there will come a time
when you are going to receive that same blessing.
